Characteristics of Successful MLM

In my experiences I’ve seen many different MLM programs and I’ve seen the potential of some exceed others. Why do some programs do so much better than others? Is it just the random people that get involved or is it the actual concept that determines the success of an MLM? Here’s an example… Is GDI so successful because of the specific people that are involved or are the specific people involved in GDI as established as they are due to the nature of GDI? When considering which MLM’s are destined to explode I’ve found that there are certain characteristics an MLM must display in order to ensure maximum growth potential. When these characteristics are present, the odds of success are a lot more favorable because they truly present a greater opportunity.

 

Affordability would be the 1st characteristic that an MLM must display in order to present you with favorable odds of success. Opportunities must be affordable because any product, service, good, or opportunity means nothing to the world if it’s financially out of reach. I’ve seen some internet marketing opportunities that cost as high as $3500.00 just to get started and keep in mind that the higher that the initial capital investment is, the more effort it will require to recover it. In addition, high registration costs attract fewer members. There are many online programs that allow you to start earning for free and those are typically the more popular ones. Here’s another example… If I invented a machine that cooked, cleaned, sent out birthday cards on time and came in your choice of 16 different colors everybody in the world would want one. But if I wanted 1 Billion dollars for every one of those machines that I sold, I would not be a successful entrepreneur. That’s what it all comes down to. People can’t have or be a part of something they can’t afford. Besides, the concept of paying a lot in order to make money seems so counter-productive.

 

The 2nd vital characteristic is practicality. An opportunity must provide a practical use or service that can be utilized by the masses. If you’re providing something that people can’t make use of you are not a practical entrepreneur. This doesn’t mean that you can’t succeed it just means that you have to find people who are interested in something that has little practical use in order for you to become successful. I’ve actually seen 1 MLM program that has no product or service, just a name with the plan being to have people opt into the program for a high cost and hope that others join in underneath them at the same high cost to keep the residuals flowing. While that program can work for some people, I found it hard to develop an interest in something that lacked so much substance. I suppose with the right marketing anything is possible but remember we’re looking for greatest of ease and favorable odds.

 

Lastly, leverage is a great tool to have on your side. Opportunities must provide you with the power of leverage. When people are working they don’t like to feel exploited. They like to feel that they’re in control, or they have leverage, of their own outcome. With MLM you can actually determine your own level of income and in some programs it’s entirely possible for someone to be making more money than another person in their upline. Many programs offer additional bonuses for individual success which can surpass the residuals reaped by your entire team. Furthermore, practicality can be used as leverage. Here’s one more example… If 1 product is available only in 1 country and another product is available in more than 1 country, which will have more appeal? Practically, which is more likely to become more commonly used? An MLM program that can be used globally will do far better than a domestic one.

 

Any other pros to an MLM will of course work to your favor but with these 3 characteristics you’re off to a great start. Your personality is the major X factor when it comes to success so make sure that you’re ready for the dedication before taking on any kind of challenge. You’ll find in life that good preparation and well execution can result synergistically when combined with the characteristics mentioned above.
